Is the price listed in the web site per person?
All tours are private and prices are for the entire boat with only crew members or employees accompanying guests.
How many people can go on one boat?
Although some of our boats are longer then others the maximum capacity is 8 and most boats are more comfortable with less.
Where are you located and where do we meet?
We are located in the marina at Puerto Aventuras:
- 60 miles south of the Cancun Hotel Zone
- 15 miles south of Playa del Carmen
- 30 miles north of Tulum
- 10 miles north of Akumal
The boats are in the northeast part of the marina at the end of the charter dock between Porto Bello time-share condos and the boat ramp. Please meet us at the boats at least 30 minutes before your departure.
What should we do if we can't find the boats?
Ask anyone working around the marina for Tequila Sunrise Adventures and they will point you to us or go the Pub Restaurant next to the Dolphin Discovery check-in center and they will be happy to help you.
What are the departure times?
Full days leave at 8:45 and return at 5:00
Half days are 8:45-1:00 and 1:30-5:30 with afternoon fishing usually better
What can we expect to catch?
Catches vary from month to month and year to year but check our fishing report for a guideline of what species we will be targeting.
Do you always catch fish or is there a guarantee?
Yes, we usually do catch fish but there are times when weather conditions or feeding patterns make it more difficult then other to find them. We wish we could guarantee great fishing for everyone but we will do all we can to make your trip as enjoyable as possible and please don't solely base your trips success only on the amount of fish caught.
Who gets the fish?
The fish are yours to keep but most of our customers are staying in all-inclusive hotels and have nothing to do with them. In that case the crew will be happy to prepare some fillets for you to take to one of the near-by marina restaurants where you can have a fresh fish lunch or dinner for a very reasonable price and please don't take all the fish hoping to give them away. The crews depend on left over fish to feed their families and it is one of the means of compensation for the low wages they receive.
What is the policy for tipping?
10%-20% of the cost of the trip given to the captain and he will divide among crew.
Any tip is appreciated and if the crew especially the mate tries hard all trip and has no luck please don't punish him. His work to prepare the boat and tackle for you before and after the trip is the same even if the captain can't find fish please don't hold the mate responsible.
What is the refund policy?
For weather: When you come to fish in the morning if you are concerned about sea conditions or an illness we will advise you on the weather or what to expect physically for your trip. At that time if you don't feel you will be comfortable going out we will re-schedule or refund your deposit.
If you don't show up for the charter or don't contact us your deposit will be forfeited.
What if someone in the group gets sick?
On most days the captain will return one time to the dock to drop off anyone in the group is feeling bad. If the captain or management feels that it is too dangerous to negotiate our marina inlet another time the trip will be canceled and no refund will be offered.
If for any reason we can't provide our service to you because of crew illness or mechanical problems we will re schedule or refund your deposit.
We always try to be honest and up front about sea conditions but every ones level of tolerance to motion sickness is different. Some of our better fishing is accompanied by rough seas but it is always better to reschedule then to go out for a short period of time only to return early empty handed. One-time customers are not what we are about at Tequila Sunrise Adventures.
